Sitting in a room alone she remembered how long the road had become. The miles of regret and the weight of yesterday clung to her shoulders like a heavy shawl she couldn’t shrug. She had tried self- help, distraction, and pretending she was fine. But the silence between each breath whispered otherwise.
Beneath the quiet hum of her thoughts and the streets below, she stumbled across an old Bible in a forgotten drawer, it’s pages thin, edges curled and words small. She opened the book of Romans, and the road before her began to change. Her eyes fell on the words and her breath caught in her chest as realization set in…I am broken from mistakes!
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
She paused. For the first time, she didn’t argue her flaws. She knew what it was to fall short…in love, in patience, in truth. The verse didn’t condemn her: it told her something she already knew but never named. Yet, right beneath that truth was something new and exciting…
“being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24
Grace!! Free and undeserved. Words she had never heard in unison or trusted before.
As she read further, she found herself in a struggle she didn’t anticipate.
“For the good that I will to do, I do not do, but the evil I will not want to do…that I practice.” Romans 7:19
She glanced up and saw her reflection in the cloudy mirror seeing the tension she was feeling. The tension of wanting to change and being unable. She read on and read it and felt it. A new kind of love…
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Tears blurred the ink of the thin pages in her hands. She realized grace wasn’t waiting for her to clean up. Grace was already reaching for her…on this road, in the struggles, while she was broken and searching. She read on, afraid yet drawn to something deeper. Some old shameful memories flashed in her mind, and she almost set the book aside when…
“Therefore, there in now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…” Romans 8:1(a)
No condemnation! No more labels! No more hiding behind guilt and shame! She didn’t have to earn His love…she only had to believe. This wasn’t a packing list or a checklist. This was simply surrender.
She felt the road ahead wasn’t going to be suddenly smooth, but now she wasn’t walking alone.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
“For I am persuaded that neither death not life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things to come, nor height nor depth nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
That road had finally slowed and led her to a place of grace. In fact, grace was now her companion. This woman who had wandered now walked in peace and purpose.
Maybe your road looks like hers. Maybe guilt, silence, shame, suffering, or pain has followed your road.
Hear this truth:
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
This is grace that meets you where you are…on your road, in your mess, in your longing! This road of grace doesn’t erase the past…it redeems it. It doesn’t promise perfection…it offers presence. His sweet abiding presence.
If your heart is ready, pray and reach out to us or someone who can rejoice with you!
Lord Jesus,
I believe you died for my sins and rose again so I could have eternal life. I surrender my heart and life to you. Please forgive me, I am a sinner, wash me clean. Guide me as I follow you on this road of grace. From this moment, I belong to you. In your Son’s name…Amen.
Welcome to the family!!
